Ultrasound

Safe, Painless, and Accurate Imaging

At Pathway Imaging, we provide advanced ultrasound imaging to give physicians a clear view of internal organs, blood vessels, and soft tissues—without radiation. Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive exam that uses sound waves to create real-time images, making it one of the most trusted tools for diagnosis and monitoring.

What is an Ultrasound Scan?

An ultrasound (also called sonography) uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of structures inside the body. Because it doesn’t involve radiation, ultrasound is especially safe for pregnancy and repeat exams.

Common Uses for Ultrasound Imaging

  • Evaluating the heart, liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and other abdominal organs
  • Monitoring blood flow and detecting vascular conditions
  • Guiding biopsies and other minimally invasive procedures
  • Pregnancy and prenatal care imaging
  • Identifying cysts, tumors, or fluid buildup
  • Assessing muscles, tendons, and joints for injury

What to Expect During Your Ultrasound

  • Preparation: Some exams may require fasting or a full bladder—your care team will provide specific instructions.
  • During the Scan: A technologist applies a warm gel to the skin and moves a handheld device (transducer) over the area being examined.
  • Time: Most ultrasound exams take 30–60 minutes.
  • After the Exam: You can return to your normal routine immediately. Results are interpreted by a board-certified radiologist and sent to your physician quickly.
